The open-source contract repository.
Recitals
Whereas legal teams are increasingly asked to manage contracts at the speed of software, but the contract management market remains dominated by closed, expensive, cloud-only platforms;
Whereas sensitive client agreements should not be required to leave a firm's infrastructure as a precondition for tooling;
Whereas AI-assisted contract review is genuinely useful but must be auditable, span-cited, and not built on hallucinations;
Now, therefore, Whereas is a self-hostable, AGPL-licensed contract repository for legal teams who want their tools to work the way they do.
Whereas is in early development. The repository scaffold is up; the first tagged release (v0.1) is the next milestone. Watch the GitHub repo or join the discussion if you want to contribute.
Whereas is licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later. Run it yourself, modify it, share your modifications. Commercial licensing available for organizations that need to deploy Whereas without the AGPL's network-use clause.
